Speaking the Language of Design: Creating The Linguist’s Brand

Company Name: The Linguist

Service: Branding

Location: Worcester - UK

We love when friends connect us with creative, passionate individuals, and that’s exactly what happened when Sonia Meyrick from The Claret Office introduced us to Agata McCrindle. Agata is a linguist with an impressive skill set, specialising in Polish. From translation and interpreting to editing and proofreading, her work helps people bridge communication gaps and connect across cultures.

Agata had previously designed her first logo herself, a DIY approach we always admire, but this time, she wanted something more polished, professional, and with a playful twist. We were thrilled to take on the challenge of creating a brand that captured her personality and the essence of her linguistic work.

To start, we brainstormed ideas that would visually represent language, communication, and connection. Our initial drafts explored speech-related imagery, like speech bubbles, quotation marks, and abstract designs of faces mid-conversation. Each concept was carefully chosen to reflect the core of Agata’s work: the exchange of ideas and words.

Agata loved two of our designs in particular: one featuring a speech bubble and another showcasing quotation marks. Both designs had strong visual appeal and told the story of her work in different ways. The speech bubble was friendly and approachable, while the quotation marks carried a slightly more professional tone.

Then came the question of colour. Agata wanted to inject a sense of playfulness into the logo, so she suggested adding a pop of yellow. We paired this with a cool, sophisticated grey to strike a balance between lively and professional. The combination gave both designs a versatile and modern look, perfect for a linguist who works with a variety of clients.

After presenting the colour versions, Agata was still undecided. She loved them both so much that she asked to have both. Of course, we were happy to oblige! Why settle for one great design when you can have two? Agata now has two logo variations to use depending on the context – a fun, flexible solution for a dynamic professional like her.

Working with Agata was an absolute pleasure. Her kindness and professionalism made the project not only smooth but also incredibly enjoyable. We’re so proud to have been part of her branding journey and can’t wait to see how she uses her logos to grow her business.
